Human
blood and body fluids has the ability to spread infectious diseases like AIDS,
Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and more. MRSA
is yet another serious infection that affected over 1lakh people in US back in
2010 and killed almost 20,000 people in the same year.
Are you familiar with MRSA?
MRSA
refers to methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus, which is an antibiotic
resistant strain of staph. Although it has been around since 1960 but still it is
a major concern and challenge to doctors and medical professionals because of
its resistance to antibiotics and other types of standard treatments. The best
way to deal with MRSA is to avoid it and prevent its contamination.
Danger Of Being Exposed To An Area
Contaminated With MRSA?
The
biggest danger of being exposed to areas and people contaminated with MRSA is
that it is highly communicable and can be epidemic. If not cleaned properly,
MRSA is a staph infection that can be quite deadly. The infection if left
untreated can spread to lungs and blood leading to potentially life threatening
diseases.
MRSA
spreads not just by means of blood. Even physical contact with the person
having infection can make you MRSA infected. Sharing towels, razors, water
bottles and even surfaces with infected person can make you infected with MRSA.
How to Disinfect Your Home or Workplace
TO Reduce MRSA Transmission?
To
reduce MRSA transmissions from infected persons, CDC recommends cleaning and
disinfecting surfaces that are likely to come in contact with you be it your
chair, bed, dinning table or else. CDC recommends that you should use detergent
based cleaners or Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) disinfectants to reduce
MRSA transmission. So, it’s important that you read the label thoroughly to
check the validity of disinfectant to reduce MSRA transmissions.
Similarly,
you should use only EPA registered products to treat MSRA infections. Never try
to use EPA cleaners and disinfectants to treat infections.
Role of MRSA or Crime Scene Cleaners in Reducing
MRSA Infections
Do
you know? Even successful treatment of individual having MRSA infection will
not ensure the safety of other people inhabiting in the same vicinity. Thus, it
is vital that if someone in your school, staff or home had the infection, an
MRSA (or crime scene) cleaning company should be called immediately to
sterilize and decontaminate the location thoroughly.
Unfortunately,
mortality rate in case of MRSA infections is just 4-10%. So, it would be
extremely unwise if you try to avoid hiring reliable MRSA or crime scene
cleaners to sterilize the contaminated area thoroughly. Patients suffering from
diabetes tend to get infected with MRSA more easily and early than the others.
Thus, if someone in your apartment building or workplace has MRSA infection or
had it recently, you should call a professional and well established MRSA or
crime scene cleaner without any hesitation. This is the only way to destroy the
infectious bacteria and prevent the single MRSA infection from turning to an
epidemic.
