Bio-Hazard Cleaning :
What would you do?
Have you had a suicide in your family, or maybe know of
someone who is experiencing a suicide situation now? The question that I want
you to consider is this: are you or a friend going to attempt to clean up the
scene?
Sounds like a silly question, but stop and think about the
scenario for a few minutes and consider how it would affect your thinking
process if you walked in on a suicide scene.
Aftercare knows that many families deal with this horrible
situation every year. Until you have been in this nightmare you won’t
understand what I am talking about. I started aftercare so families would never
have to face such a horrible task. Dealing with a death is hard enough; trying
to clean it up your self is unhealthy. The mental state is a very fragile thing
and can fall apart quickly when under super emotional stress. Let’s present a
scenario that aftercare sees many times throughout the year. You return from work expecting to be welcomed
home and there is only silence. As you walk from room to room looking for your
spouse, you start to get an uneasy feeling. You call out their name and there
is no response, as your pace starts to quicken your voice increases in volume.
Then as you enter the bathroom your heart suddenly feels as though it will leap
out of your chest, “your eyes widen and you fall to your knees as a scream
starts to build in your throat!”
After what seems an eternity, you finally start to come back
to reality and realize that you must take some kind of action. You start to
call 911, but suddenly stop and hang up. As you stare at the scene, your mind
starts to race as you try to rationalize the situation.
Do you want everyone to know they committed suicide? Should
you clean up the scene or call a professional bio hazard clean up company?
What would be the consequences psychologically? Where will
you dispose of the waste? As you ponder
these thoughts, waves of emotions will hit you like a brick wall. You do not
want to find out the consequences of dealing with such a task. Most homeowner’s
insurance policies cover the cost for Aftercare to clean and disinfect the
scene of a death.
